We all have our opinions and are entitled to them. I thought that you held your own in each one of the disagreements that you had on politics. You have to have thick skin around here once in awhile. posted by: PastorDave (reply) post date: 11.12.08 (1:04 pm) Yes, there are some folks around here who consider themselves to be the intellectual/moral/political elite, and anyone with a contrary opinion is by definition stupid/silly/inferior. And these people think they have the right to call you names simply because you see things differently. However, if you are serious about blogging and interacting with others, then you need to find a better reason to leave this place. These kinds of people are everywhere, and as I see it they tend to be even more sophomoric in their attacks on many of the other blogging platforms. I think almost all of us would like for you to stay around and write as honestly as always. Learning to deal with jerks is just part of life. Otherwise you'd best lock your door and never go out, and certainly don't get onto the internet. Now, there's a couple of folk around here that I've decided to just leave alone. What really burned me was when I finally realized these people considered me some kind of "project" for enlightenment and education, that my opinions and what I thought to be friendship-among-equals was viewed by them as a tolerant exercise of nobles toward inferiors- with these guys being the "nobles". You talk about qualifiying for jerk sainthood! There's not much you can do to open the mind of such a narrow and ignorant person. And there's little need to continue to pretend such persons really want friendship with you. But, hey, this is blogging. We are people who sit at our computers and interact. Maybe some of us expect far too much from these relationships? So, the lesson for me and perhaps for you also, is to lighten up. Understand the limitations of this venue of interaction. Don't let anybody around here bother you too much. I there ANYTHING we can do to change your mind. This is a place where we can vent if we want to and some do it more than I do, but I have enjoyed my time here, until lately there is someone posting pornography on our site and I DO NOT LIKE THAT ~ and hope the administrators can do something ~ but, alas, probably not! But, when the exchange devolves into name-calling and personal attack, such certainly ceases to be fun. They and their churches COULD make a concerted and ongoing effort to evangelize you and your household. Sorry to see you go Ruined but times change and we all must change with the times. I do hope you can come back and post once in a while so we all know how you are doing. If people call other people names, then it is them that has the problem. I don't say anything, I just let myself be the bigger person in such a case and call them idiots under my breath or think they are idiots, then walk away. Hope you find many new blessings this Holiday season and hope that 2009 new and better opportunities come your way. |
